Clinical scenario- 4

The image shows a test tube containing fluid, which is essentially a mixture of respiratory secretions and saline.

A 13–14-year-old boy was undergoing an appendicectomy. During the procedure, he was intubated and ventilated, as is routine for general anaesthesia. While managing his airway, the anaesthetist noticed this unusual material within his respiratory secretions.

Paediatric team was called in to review with concerns of likely Pulmonary Oedema.

Clinical examination- minimum ventilation in air No In air, oxygen saturations were 100%, HR, BP, CRT- normal, Chest-no distress and clear.
